Why you should have a Bonsai Ficus Tree in your home

Ficus Tree AKA ficus Benjamina is a well known tree. It is found in south Asia. There are many things associated with ficus tree. And people hate it because the leaves fall rapidly from it due to cold. Ficus is a common growing tree in south Asia. It is also known as Weeping Fig or Benjamina Fig. A storming thing with the tree is it can grow up to 100 feet’s in natural conditions. The fruit produced by tree are favorite food for all the birds and the tree is a great home for many birds. The tree is cultivated more near off roads and parks as they grow much bigger and provide excellent conditions in given areas. It is also a very favorite plant in temperate areas where the conditions for growing other trees are not favorable. The best thing of these trees is they generally grow under bright sunny conditions but can also grow under all conditions. It also requires very less amount of water compared to other trees. The negative thing about this plant is, it is very sensitive to cold which make it to lose the leaves and then the tree remains only of stems. Ficus trees are not like pineapple trees which grow small, it is a real very big tree.

The ficus tree roots have a habit of growing rapidly under anything present near. This can cause destruction in gardens, drive ways and if near some buildings in them also. This is very undesirable and should be avoided. Hence these trees are not planted around any structures. Still many people buy it to grow them in their garden because of the elegance of the tree in nature. The hugeness of the tree is also well suited for the camping or tree house structure or for hanging ropes for children’s. Overall this tree is very useful by few means.

1)      Select a site with bright sunlight for the planting of the tree. If you allow it to have ample sunlight it will grow faster and greener.  Avoid the full day direct sun light over the tree.

2)      Select a place which is away from your home walls and doors. As the destructive roots of ficus can trouble you over time. Also try to avoid the valuable plants near the ficus tree.

3)      Provide enough water to ficus trees in summer and less water in winters. Ficus tree can leave with very moderate amount of water in winters.

4)      If possible provide shelter to the tree in winter season as it will help your tree leaves from following. After all ficus with leaves is a very elegant tree.

5)      If you see any mushroom or pests growing on the tree, consult a expert in the area to save the tree from falling to the pest.

A Ficus tree is beautiful tree and if you don’t take care of it in winters you will see sadness in the tree. To avoid this take care of the tree and also if planting near home don’t let it grow more than 50-60 feet’s. If you want a evergreen ficus tree try artificial ficus tree.
